8 Barabus TKR

Barabus TKR The Barabus 1005bhp supercar is a true Italian built exotic car. The engine of Barabus TKR is a twin-turbo 6.0 liter V8 and the engine is a Chevy biturbo V8. The body and chassis of the Barabus supercar is made of carbon-fiber and it helps the supercar to touch a speed of 60 mph in just 1.67 seconds! Think that a 1-60 mph time of 4 seconds is considered supercar territory, and you know the true astoundingness of the shocktastic feat Barabus TKR has achieved. The top speed of the Barabus TKR supercar is 270mph.

7 SSC Ultimate Aero

SSC Ultimate Aero Even though the car remains untested, Forbes is happy to report that the Aero is already the fastest car in America. This Ultimate Aero is the fourth car to come from SSC's Washington facilities and it is by far the their most extreme. It shares all the elements with its predecessors, except #4 is much lighter and has an engine to the tune of 1050 bhp. Each Aero has a heavily modified Corvette engine which is forced fed by a supercharger. It's supported in a steel space frame and covered by a carbon fibre body.

6 Chevrolet Mallet/Halltech Corvette

Chevrolet Mallet/Halltech Corvette Halltech's Twin Turbo-R project, smoked a stock LS6 engine, running nearly 14 lbs boost and over 700 RWHP.. It fractured the ring lands of two stock pistons (cast), so the next logical step is to "bulletproof" the bottom end with a Katech C5R crank, rods and billet main caps. Katech Pistons will be dished for 9:1 static compression, and will be made of bulletproof 2618T6 forged aluminum. ARP studs will bring strength to the program, with ported heads, and a mild Competition Cam. 1000 HP will be the result at 18-20 PSI Boost.

5 Audi R-Zero

Audi R-Zero The R-Zero is an exceptional supercar benefiting from an outstanding architecture. The electric motorization allows an original hierarchical organization of the streams of air in order to to control the behavior of the airflow around and inside the car. A concept with the image of a muscular sports car, the Audi TT, and with performance equivalent to that of the Bugatti Veyron, the whole works in harmony with our environment and must join the perspective of 2010.

4 Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak

Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak It was designed to compete in the The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb which takes place in Colorado and has a total distance of 12.35 miles.  The race starts at an elevation of 9,200 feet and finishes at 14,100 with 156 corners in between.  To do all that climbing, the Escudo is powered by a 935 HP Twin Turbo V6.  Although performance numbers such as 0-60, 0-1/4 mile, and top speed have never been tested they would be astonishing considering its low weight of 1764 lbs.

3 Melling Hellcat

Melling Hellcat The production Melling Hellcat will now come with a quad-turbo V10 producing a completely ridiculous 1,175 horsepower. That's well above the number of ponies the Bugatti Veyron produces, and it will be stuffed in a package that's considerably lighter. 0 to 60 is expected to occur in a 2.6-second blink of the eye, and terminal velocity will be 275 mph.

2 Walley Larson LE1 Groundfighter

Walley Larson LE1 Groundfighter Walley Larson Le1 Groundfighter: 2000Hp and 490 km/h . Groundfighter is a concept that had never moved from the concept stage to production.

1 Mercedes-Benz T80

Mercedes-Benz T80 By 1939 , the T80 was fully completed at a cost of RM 600,000. It was powered by a massive 44.5 litre Daimler-Benz DB 603 inverted V12, a derivative of the famous DB-601 aircraft engine which powered the lethal Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter in production at the time. The DB-603 fitted was just the third prototype (V3) engine of this variant and tuned up to an amazing 3,000 hp. The engine ran off a mixture of methyl alcohol (63%), benzene (16%), ethanol (12%), acetone (4.4%), nitrobenzolo (2.2%), avgas (2%), and ether (0.4%) with MW (methanol-water) injection for charge cooling and boost pressure. The T80 was over 8 meters long (27 ft), weighed over 2.7 metric tons (three short ton ), and needed 3000 hp (2200 kW) together with the aerodynamics of specialist Josef Mikcl to attain the projected speed of 750 km/h (465 mph).
