Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari 458 Italia Ferrari has taken the wraps off its latest incarnation of the mid-rear engined supercar ahead of the two-seater's world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. At 127HP per liter, the new V8 engine has the highest output per liter in the company's production-model history.Designed by Pininfarina, the 458 Italia clearly takes some styling cues from Ferrari’s racing-inspired Enzo. The name, 458 Italia, comes from its new 4.5-liter V-8 engine, which will be mounted behind the cockpit in a midrear layout. The engine features direct fuel injection and the best horsepower-per-cylinder output of any Ferrari 458 ItaliaFerrari. The 458 tops out at 9000 rpm and Ferrari redesigned the gear ratio so that 80% of its torque is available at the low 3250 rpm. The powertrain combines with the compact, aerodynamic shape and lightweight aluminum structure to provide a 0 to 62 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 202 MPH.

Ferrari 458 ItaliaDespite the fact that the new engine is significantly more powerful than the V8s that preceded it, the Ferrari 458 Italia produces just 320 g/km of CO2 and fuel consumption is 13.7 l/100 km , the best in the entire segment. It won’t just be a straight-line monster, either: integrated and remapped versions of the F430’s differential and traction control systems which give the 458 32 per cent more longitudinal acceleration out of corners than its predecessor. The relatively lightweight aluminum chassis results in a 3,042 lbs dry weight with performance numbers suggesting 0-62 mph sprints of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. The 458 Italia is the first Ferrari V8 to break the 200 mph mark.
