2010 Mercedes Gullwing

Mercedes GullwingMercedes is planning a new flagship sports car in the shape of a stunning 21st-century Gullwing.W197 is the internal code name for Daimler’s hottest project in years -- a new sportscar equipped with gullwing doors. The 2010 Gullwing will be developed by Mercedes’ sporting arm, AMG and although it is still in its early stages, one element of the design is paramount - the doors. To go with its hi-tech structure, the Gullwing will need a powerful engine for earth-shattering performance. The supercar will sit on 19in wheels which can be upgraded to 20in wheels. Surprisingly, it will share its electric equipment with the E-Class. Maybe Mercedes-Benz is readying a new generation of electric equipments for the next E-Class which will be launched next year. So the Gullwing it is believed to be powered by a bi-turbo V8 unit is the hot tip, with power outputs possibly reaching a staggering 550bhp.

Although the new model will include components from the future SL, it will be a few centimeters shorter in overall length. Similar to the former gullwing, the new sportscar has a tubular frame and rear-wheel drive.t's said that the dimension of the car will be 4.65 meters in length, 1.95 meters in width and stand 1.25 meters tall. Also, the SLC will have a wheelbase of only 2.7 meters and weigh in at just about 1,650kg to help maintain the sporty dynamics.Only 12,000 units will be produced and sold and will only be in production for two years. So if you want one you better be on your toes. The car will be constructed using a tubular space frame and retaining the traditional front engine/rear-wheel drive layout.
